Doing a doctorate as a member of the BGTS

Doctoral students who are members of one of the participating programmes and those who are enrolled in the doctoral programme in Mathematics automatically become members of the BGTS.

Other doctoral students in economics, mathematics and physics can apply for a membership.

 

Benefits

  • Being part of a network of doctoral students, scientists, alumni and international partners across disciplinary boundaries
  • Access to the funding options of the BGTS, e.g. for international mobility
  • Access to the BGTS qualification programmes consisting of scientific courses as well as soft skill seminars

Prerequirements for an application

  • Proof of a supervision agreement (or compareable document) in which the doctoral students commit themselves to a quality control after one year of their doctoral studies, e.g. in form of a seminar talk with discussion, a publication, an exam within a doctoral program. For instance, you can use the following template of a supervision agreement (German) / supervision agreement (English)
  • Acceptance as a doctoral candidate (template of the Faculty of Mathematics)
