Critical perspectives on Evolutionary Biology: sex, sex roles and mate choice

My interdisciplinary research in Evolutionary Biology and Gender Studies includes problematizing notions of biological sex as binary and stable, questioning the concept of sex roles, reviewing variability in mate choice and developing a dynamic concept of sex that includes nature's diversity of sex and variable sexualities.

My current project concerns what I call 'The Female Turn' in Evolutionary Biology and explores how the international evolutionary research community radically shifted perspectives on the role of females in evolutionary biology. The project aims at understanding the histories, social dynamics and epistemological norms producing this shift in canonical knowledge.
