I'm a behavioural and evolutionary ecologist particularly interested in how variation is maintained. I'm a field ornithologist by training who spent a substantial amount of time studying dominance hierarchies during my PhD. I believe science is a cumulative process, and that evidence synthesis is essential to scientific progress. For my postdoctoral project, I conducted systematic reviews and meta-analyses to understand behavioural individualization as part of the DFG-funded SFB-TRR 212: NC³ project.
In my current position as Principal Investigator at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, I combine evidence synthesis, meta-research, and empirical studies to answer outstanding questions in ecology and evolution. I strongly support open science and am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Open, Reliable, and Transparent Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (SORTEE). I am always happy to share my thoughts about all these topics in workshops and talks. Please, feel free to connect via Twitter or email (alfredo.sanchez-tojar$$$at$$$uni-bielefeld.de).
