Joint Lab BiBer - Antonio Abate

The Joint Lab BiBer is a cooperation of the University of Bielefeld and the Helmholtz Centre Berlin with a team consisting of material scientists and physical chemists.

Our topic of research is the development and characterization of halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs). These materials have gained much interest over the last decade due to their excellent optoelectrical properties and rapid increase in efficiency.

Before this promising class of materials can be commercialized, there are still some challenges that ought to be overcome. Among those are their low stability and the replacement of the toxic component lead with tin. The former is still used in most state-of-the-art devices. These challenges are the main focus of research in our group.

Currently our labs in Bielefeld are still under construction. But in the future, we will characterize the surfaces of our devices with atomic force microscopy (AFM) here in our new labs. Please look forward to more updates coming soon.
