13.02.2025 - Open-Access Special Issue Published: "Rural Futures in Late Socialist Asia"
A new special issue titled "Rural Futures in Late Socialist Asia" has been recently published by the Journal of Political Sociology (JPS). Edited by Jingyu Mao, Minh T.N. Nguyen and Phill Wilcox, the issue discusses how globalisation, increasing urbanisation, and state policies shape rural lives across China, Vietnam and Laos, and how rural people imagine their futures amid the risks and uncertainties generated at the juncture between political, economic, and ecological forces. It features contributions from Jingyu Mao, Minh T.N. Nguyen, Phill Wilcox, Ly T.C. Vo, Lan Wei, Cầm Hoàng, Roy Huijsmans, Michael Kleinod-Freudenberg, Weijing Wang, Tuan Anh Nguyen and Jonathan Rigg. 03.12.2024 - ERC Consolidator Grant: 4 Millionen Euro für Soziolog*innen
Zwei Forschende der Fakultät für Soziologie der Universität Bielefeld, Professorin Dr. Minh Nguyen und Professor Dr. Carsten Sauer, erhalten die hochdotierten Consolidator Grants des Europäischen Forschungsrats (ERC). Ihre Projekte werden insgesamt mit rund 4,4 Millionen Euro gefördert. Nguyen wendet sich in ihrem neuen ERC-Projekt der Finanzialisierung, also der zunehmenden Bedeutung von Finanzmärkten, in Asiens Arbeitswelt zu. Sauer befasst sich in seinem Projekt mit geschlechtsspezifischen Lohnunterschieden in Europa. Der ERC gab heute (03.12.2024) bekannt, wer die neuen ERC Consolidator Grants erhält.
